December 6 – Make

Pity I can’t actually show anyone the last thing I made because it, along with its feral twin sister, is sitting in a bucket filled with a whole heap of bastard clay.
Prior to that, the last thing I made is sitting in a kiln, so I can’t show that off either.
So here’s something I made recently that I can show off.
I’ve been taking pottery classes, see. And I totally dig it. The two pieces up there are made from white stoneware. The one on the right has been embossed with an old doily of mum’s and I rubbed cobalt oxide into the bisqued impression then glazed the entire plate in chun or celadon – I can’t remember which one. I wrote it down somewhere. The one on the left boasts a little poem that I’m fond of. I’m an earnest potter, innit.
I’m lucky, I s’pose, I always make time for craft and it’s been a pretty good year for it. You can find my homage to all things hand and home made over here.
